Lucasfilm has announced that actors Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen have joined the cast of Star Wars Episode VII. Both actors were discovered in the open casting calls held at the end of 2013. The casting call took place across the United States and the United Kingdom, where 37,000 people attended in-person while another 30,000 submitted online applications. Of those 67,000 aspiring actors, Clarke and Andersen have made the cut.
Clarke is an American actress who studies in Glasgow in the United Kingdom, and has experience in stage and screen acting. She will be seen in the 2015 film The Moon and the Sun. Andersen is a British actor who is skilled in parkour, skills he showed in a Spider-Man ad in 2012.
Speaking on their casting, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said, "The Star Wars universe has always been about discovering and nurturing young talent and in casting Episode VII we wanted to remain absolutely faithful to this tradition. We are delighted that so many travelled to see us at the open casting calls and that we have been able to make Crystal and Pip a part of the film."
