Benedict Cumberbatch is throwing cold water on the rumor that he's been cast as a Sith villain in the sequel trilogy. The rumor first started making the rounds this week when FilmReview.com posted saying that Cumberbatch would be cast in the new Star Wars trilogy, a rumor that was picked up by Badass Digest when they reported a source as saying that Cumberbatch would play the villain.

Speaking to Access Hollywood, the high profile actor, who played Khan Noonien Singh in J.J. AbramsStar Trek Into Darkness, said of the rumors:

"This is the simple truth. J.J. and I have worked together before. I would love to work with him again. No offer has been made. That is that. And that is that."

Reps for the actor also recently said that there "is no truth" to the rumor, but that doesn't mean the rumor mill has stopped completely. Whether Cumberbatch will play the villain in Star Wars Episode VII and its sequels is still a hot topic of discussion. Here on Fanpedia, though we do not believe this rumor is credible, we recently discussed the Cumberbatch rumors by talking about the influence of Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness on the new Star Wars films.
