Star Wars: Tarkin is an upcoming Star Wars novel written by James Luceno. It takes place prior to the events of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and is based around the titular character Tarkin, one of the villains of A New Hope. The book will also feature Darth Vader. It is due out on November 4, 2014.

The novel was written in conjunction with the Lucasfilm story department. As such, it is considered an official story and part of a unified canonical universe that, as of now, includes the Star Wars films, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and other official books.
