Knights of the Old Republic: Shadows of Corruption is a short, psychological thriller Star Wars fan film directed by Jared Seaich of Seaichfilms. The fan film stars Abam Allred, Trent Allred, Emilie Starr, and Matt Anderson, and it revolves around the Knights of the Old Republic video game series.

Plot summaryEdit

Darth Revan continues his rule of tyranny in the galaxy. Conquering system after system, the Sith Lord discovers an ancient Sith artifact. He swiftly aims his resources to recover it in the hopes of gaining an advantage in the ever-growing war. Republic intelligence catches wind of the artifact’s existence and heads to the planet Syres, intent on recovering it before the Dark Lord.[1]

DevelopmentEdit

Director Jared Seaich describes Shadows of Corruption as a new kind of fan film, one that was developed with a darker and grittier atmosphere than other fan films. The director hopes that fans will appreciate the new direction, especially in light of the difficulties in production. The film did not have a budget or any professional backing, with Seaich describing the film as having been made "by the skin of our teeth." Seaich also hopes that the film leads people to play Star Wars: The Old Republic.[1]

ContinuityEdit

Star Wars Forces Of Curruption

Shadows of Corruption contains a few errors in canon continuity. In the film, Revan finds an artifact that could be confused with the ending of The Old Republic. The screenplay for the film was written before The Old Republic was released, so the story of Shadows of Corruption could lead to confusion in light of the game’s revelations. Seaichfilms hopes to raise enough money to produce a sequel in which these events can be explained in more detail.[1] A second continuity error is that the Mandalorians in the film wear armor more akin to the post-original trilogy era, rather than the Mandalorian Neo-Crusader armor that they wore in the Knights of the Old Republic era. This error was due to budget restrictions, as the producers did not have the funds to create era-appropriate costumes. If money is raised to produce a sequel, the producers hope to have enough money to make appropriate costumes.[2]

The film also has a prequel story, Knights of the Old Republic: Revan. The film is 6 minutes long and acts as a test film that was made prior to Shadows of Corruption.[3]

TriviaEdit

  • Lauritzen who plays Atton Rand in this film, previously portrayed Darth Revan in the test film.
  • The director Jared Seaich voiced Darth Revan.
