Robert "Bob" Iger is the current chairman and chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company. As CEO, one of Iger's major accomplishments and likely legacies is the acquisition of a number of successful companies, beginning with Pixar Animation Studios in 2006 and followed by Marvel Entertainment in 2009. In 2012, it was announced that Disney had acquired Lucasfilm over $4 billion and would be producing new Star Wars films, beginning with Star Wars Episode VII on December 18, 2015. Iger has been credited for convincing George Lucas to sell Lucasfilm to Disney.
